API.MO.BRU Queen Cage

Queen cage to create brood breaks

The Queen Confinement Cage is designed to temporarily restrict the queen’s movement while still allowing worker bees to pass through, care for her, and distribute her pheromones throughout the colony. This maintains colony cohesion and reduces the risk of queen rejection while she is safely confined.

When confined, the queen naturally stops laying eggs. This brood break occurs without harming her health and is a valuable management tool for improving colony performance.

Benefits

• Supports varroa management through controlled brood breaks
• Reduces swarming pressure
• Can increase honey production when brood breaks are properly timed
• Improves pheromone distribution and colony stability compared to standard cages

How to Use

• Cut a small hole below the top bar of the selected frame to accommodate the cage.
• Place the cage over a frame with emerging brood.
• Confinement can last from 1 to 25 days, depending on management goals.
• After release, the queen resumes laying normally without adverse effects.

Key Features

• Allows worker access while securely containing the queen
• Safe, low-stress design for both queen and colony
• Durable and reusable
• Suitable for integrated pest management and seasonal colony control
